A taste of California in NYC
Food, wine and friends
We had a great evening last week at Bellini on the upper west side in NYC with Alex from Cornerstone Cellars in Napa Valley. After an earlier meeting in Time Square we decided to walk to Bellini’s on 483 Columbus Ave instead of using the subway or cab. That 40 block walk took us by Central Park and the American Museum of Natural History. It was a nice walk and good weather.
Bellini’s was great. The food and wine (Cornerstone Cellars) was excellent. What was nice was a group of people getting together to introduce and learn more about each other. We connected with each other on common interests and tastes.
Last night my wife and I went out with our friends to a Taste of Thai at Sweet Basil in North Syracuse. Over a great dinner I brought up Cornerstone Cellars. I shared the story of the evening at Bellini’s with our friends. We talked about the wine and how much I enjoyed it. We talked about how we connected and enjoyed an evening learning about each other. That evening at Bellini’s with Alex took Cornerstone Cellars from being just another wine from Napa Valley to a memory and a desire to engage with them on a whole new level. I became an advocate for them. It’s not enough to say it’s a good wine. It’s their culture and passion for their wines, building relationships with their customers and their great wine that makes them who they are.
